Video Slider & Accessibility

- The Video Widget has been revamped and now includes a plethora of new settings and configurations.
- Cyberschool has improved Accessibility throughout the site. This is a very serious matter for all of us here and we will continue to work to make our platform more accessible for all of our clients.
*** If you are concerned about the accessibility of your site, please get in contact with a Tech and we will work to fix your ADA errors in the next available Accessibility Update. - A new setting in the Image feature of the post editor is available to have the image appear in a lightbox. This may grow to other features or even allow for new features in the future.
- Here is a Summary of the Update:
- (PATCHED) The default primary navigation menu in Cyberschool has been updated to allow for keyboard interactions - this affects both the Desktop and Mobile Primary Navigation.
- (PATCHED) The default primary navigation menu in Cyberschool will more appropriately relay properties and labels when using a screen reader *
- (Template 52R) Icon Navigation Tabs now animate on focus in the same manner as on mouse over (hover).
- Icons in the Icon Navigation Tabs will relay Icon Labels more appropriately when using a screen reader *
- (PATCHED) The [tab] order of the items in the Links Module/Widget has been improved to allow keyboard navigation throughout the display
- (IMPROVED) A more accurate summary is relayed when focus is on an Event Item in the Calendar Module/Widget when using a screen reader *.
- (PATCHED) The field labeled "Send Copy To My Email Address" in the Send Email window is now keyboard accessible and will now relay a more appropriate label when using a screen reader *
- (IMPROVED) The Events List in the Events Module of the site will display the list at fullwidth when viewing the Module logged out and on a smaller viewport or at 200% zoom level
- (PATCHED) The Calendar Controls in the Events Module/Widget will now relay more appropriate labels when receiving keyboard focus when using a screen reader *
* This update was tested using NVDA Screen Reader
- (NEW) Lightbox setting in the Image feature. This is a checkbox setting that, when toggled, will open the image in a small lightbox when the image is clicked.
- (NEW) Video Layout setting in the Video Widget to choose Default (single video) or Slider (multiple videos - up to 5)
- (NEW) Custom Video Poster setting. The Video Poster is visible when the page is loaded and the video has not begun playing.
- (NEW) Generate Poster mechanic to create posters directly from the video being used
- (NEW) Video Configuration settings including:
- Video Autoplay - video will play automatically when the page is loaded
- Video Controls - Defines if the video controls (pause/play, seek to, full screen, download, etc.) will show
- Loop Video? - Defines if the video will loop back to the beginning when it has completed
- Allow Fullscreen - Defines if the video can be made Fullscreen
- Default Max Display - Sets the Video to be the full width & height of the widget that contains it.
- Default Full Display - Sets the Video to be the full width & height of the window and plays the section of the video the appears through the widget
- (NEW) Custom Video Captions can be defined. A title and description can be set right from the widget.
- (NEW) Video Captions Configuration settings including:
- Caption Style - Sets the Caption Box to appear below the video, above the video, centered in the video, or a custom option to place the caption box wherever you would like.
- Title Styles - Changes the alignment, color, boldface, italicization, or underline of the caption title set
- Text Styles - Changes the alignment or color of the caption description set.
- Background Styles - Changes the color, transparency, or "roundness" of the caption box.
- (NEW) YouTube Search Component that allows you to perform a YouTube search right from the widget to make embedding videos easier.
- (NEW) Slider Configuration Settings including:
- Video Selection - displays a smaller slider at the top, bottom, left, or right of the video where a user can choose which video they would like to watch
- Slider Controls - Defines if the slider controls (previous, next, pause/play) will show
- Auto Slide - Defines if the slider should move to the next Video when the current video has ended
- Loop Slider - Defines if the slider should move to the first Video in the slider when the last Video has ended.
- Slide Speed - Defines how long a slide takes to complete when sliding to the next video.
- Slide Effect - Defines the animation taken when a slide is performed (slide, fade, cube, flip, or coverflow)
- (NEW) Videos Configuration for establishing which videos will appear inside the Video Slider
- Each video is allowed a title/label, a URL, a Poster/Thumbnail, and it's own Caption Box (title and description)
- When using the "Default Full Display" setting, Videos also have a Position Setting to change which part of the video is shown through the widget.
- Videos Configuration is allowed a total of 5 videos (subject to change in a future update) and allows for adding, reordering, and deleting videos in the slider.
- Videos uploaded in the MOV (iOS default) format automatically create a copy for a converted video in MP4 format. The mov video will still be available in your server; however the mp4 is the recommended video format to use in the Video Slider
The remaining Primary Navigation menu layouts are set to be changed to allow for this improved keyboard accessibility.
This includes all the primary navigation widget layouts that do not use the default Cyberschool Primary Navigation: Full, Large Centered Image, Large Centered Image With Text, Mega, Mega Inline, and Modern Mega.
The side navigation is set to be changed as well.
